Horsham Daily has no connection to the district council, runs nobody’s press release as news, and publishes nothing that cannot be traced back to a document.
One town, many villages
The district is far larger than the town and most of it is countryside. As well as Horsham we cover Southwater, Billingshurst, Storrington and Pulborough, and the outlying parishes are part of the patch rather than a footnote to it. A lane closure, a field on the edge of a village turning into houses, a school inspection: if it changes how a day goes here, it belongs on the site.
How we know what we print
The news is assembled from public records: the district planning register and the reports that go with it, West Sussex County Council on roads and schools, open crime data from police.uk, food hygiene inspection results, and official notices in The Gazette. Keeping watch on all of it is a machine job, so a machine does the watching and the routine drafting. Every fact still belongs to the record, and the link goes with it. The local information pages show the date they were last verified.
Tips and corrections
The best tips come from the people who live in the lane concerned. Email hello@horshamdaily.co.uk if you know about something we ought to be chasing, or if we have printed something wrong. Tips are kept in confidence, and corrections go up quickly with a note on what changed.
