Horsham’s railway does something few commuter towns get: it splits three ways into London. Southern’s fast trains reach Victoria in 55 minutes via Crawley, Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport; Thameslink runs direct to London Bridge in about 1 hour 6 minutes and carries on under the city through Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras; and a third, slower Southern route ambles to Victoria through Dorking, Epsom and Sutton. The off-peak rhythm

- Victoria, fast, with Southern: 55 minutes, twice an hour at about 20 and 50 past, calling at Crawley, Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, East Croydon and Clapham Junction.
- London Bridge, direct, with Thameslink: about 1 hour 6 minutes, twice an hour at about 25 and 55 past, via Gatwick and Redhill; the same trains run on through Blackfriars and Farringdon to St Pancras International (1 hour 20 minutes) with no change (timetable data).
- Victoria via Dorking, Epsom and Sutton: about 1 hour 30 minutes, hourly. It serves the Mole Valley stations, not speed; take it only if it is your stop.
- In a hurry for London Bridge, there is a faster trick the timetable itself suggests: take the fast Victoria train and change at Three Bridges, 55 minutes end to end (timetable data).
The practical rule: for the West End, take the fast Victoria train; for the City, Southbank or the Eurostar, take Thameslink and stay on. Around five direct London trains an hour leave Horsham off-peak across the three routes.
A bonus of the fast route: Gatwick Airport is 22 to 24 minutes direct, around four trains an hour, which makes the 6am flight doable by rail.

The £5,312 London Terminals season is the workhorse and covers Victoria, London Bridge and the other central terminals by any permitted route. None of the rail-only seasons are valid on the Underground; that is what the £6,572 Travelcard version buys, £1,260 a year more. If you commute two or three days a week, price a Flexi Season against the weekly figure before buying.
The important 2026 fact: regulated fares in England are frozen until March 2027, the first freeze in around 30 years, covering standard-class seasons, Anytime and Off-Peak tickets (National Rail). The prices above are not rising this year.
For one-off trips, the National Rail fare data on the timetable puts a Super Off-Peak Day Return at £20.90 and an Off-Peak Day Return at £29.30, with an Anytime Day Return at £53.70. An Off-Peak Day Travelcard, which adds Underground and bus zones 1 to 6, is £34.30, often the best value for a day out (fare listings). At the station, and two things worth knowing this autumn
Horsham station sits five to ten minutes’ walk north-east of the Carfax. The station car park is run by APCOA for Southern, open 24 hours with roughly 200 spaces (National Rail lists 220, APCOA 185), from £5.10 a day, with free parking for Blue Badge holders (National Rail, APCOA). If it is full, the town’s car parks are the fallback, and the Hop Oast park and ride runs buses into the centre.
Two current notes. First, there is no step-free access to the Thameslink platforms at St Pancras until mid-September 2026, so anyone with a buggy, wheelchair or heavy case heading for the Eurostar should plan around it (Thameslink engineering page). Second, when the Brighton Main Line shuts between Brighton and Three Bridges over the weekend of 10 and 11 October 2026, Horsham keeps its London trains and actually hosts the diverted Brighton services, so expect busier platforms rather than rail replacement buses.
