Horsham district food hygiene ratings, July 2026: a perfect month as all 24 inspected businesses score 5

Every food business in Horsham district that received a hygiene rating in July scored the maximum 5, “very good”. The Food Standards Agency’s public register lists 24 ratings dated July 2026 for the district, and not one came in below the top mark. (Food Standards Agency, food hygiene ratings register)

The figures come from the FSA’s register, which records every rating issued under the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. Ratings dated July 2026 were retrieved on 6 August; the council adds results as inspections are processed, so a few late July visits may still appear.

Town centre restaurants all clean

Horsham town centre supplied the biggest cluster of top scores. On East Street, Cote Brasserie and Monte Forte Neapolitan Pizza were both rated 5 on 15 July, the same day as Cafe W inside Waterstones on the Carfax and Savers on West Street. A second round on 21 July kept it going: Deep Blue on the Carfax, Hotel Chocolat on West Street and Ricky’s Premier on Middle Street all took fives, as did The China Brasserie on North Street earlier in the month.

Village pubs and shops across the district

The district’s villages matched the town. The Bax Castle at Two Mile Ash and The Partridge in Partridge Green both kept top pub scores, along with Billy’s On The Road on Stane Street and Scribes on the High Street in Billingshurst, and Welcome Southwater on Worthing Road.

In Steyning and Henfield, fives went to Chez Joel on Steyning High Street, the Chartwells kitchen at St Andrew’s C of E Primary School, Henfield Sports Centre, and two care settings: Valerie Manor at Upper Beeding and Red Oaks Nursing Home in Henfield. In Storrington, Waitrose at Old Mill Square and the Marakesh Spice takeaway on Mill Lane completed the sweep.

The hygiene rating is a snapshot of what an inspector found on the day: how food is handled, the condition of the building, and how food safety is managed. A 5 means all three were judged up to standard. Every rating in this article links to the business’s own entry on the official register, where you can check the current score before booking or ordering, since ratings can change after any reinspection. Businesses that disagree with a rating have a right of appeal, a published right to reply, and can request a revisit once improvements are made; the FSA explains how that works.
