The London Road restaurant won Best Restaurant of the Year 2026 at the Global Power Awards in London on 21 September. What we checked, and what we did not.
A Horsham restaurant has come back from a London awards ceremony with a title. New Curry Centre, at 43 London Road, was named Best Restaurant of the Year 2026 for its region at the Global Power Awards UK 2026 on Monday 21 September.
The award was presented at the Meridian Grand in London. The organisers say the evening brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals from across the UK and overseas, and that Lord Marland attended as chief guest.
What the category actually covers
The title as issued reads “Best Restaurant of the Year 2026, South East Sussex”, and that is a problem for anyone reading it in Horsham, because Horsham is not in Sussex’s south east. It is in West Sussex.
We put that to the organisers before publishing. Mohammed Aktaruzzaman, who signs as chief executive of Global Power Awards UK, told us the wording on the certificate was not what was meant: “We meant South East England, West Sussex.”
So the accurate version of the award is a South East England regional restaurant title, for a restaurant in West Sussex. We would rather say that plainly than reprint a region that does not exist.
Who gives the award
The Global Power Awards UK describe themselves as “a unique award for best entrepreneurs of UK and around the world”, and list categories covering business leaders in the UK, Dubai, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka and Malaysia, alongside entrepreneur and women business leader categories. Their own listing for this year’s ceremony gives the date as 21 September 2026 at a five star venue in London. Their site is at globalpowerawards.com, and their contact address is in Ben Jonson Road, east London.
This is an industry awards programme rather than a public vote or an inspection scheme, and the organisers have not published a shortlist or a judging note for the restaurant category. We are reporting the award as what it is: a recognition handed out by that organisation, on that night, to this restaurant.
The restaurant on London Road
New Curry Centre sits at 43 London Road, RH12 1AN, beside the London Road Methodist Church. The shopfront in the photograph the organisers sent is a dark grey and gold fascia carrying the restaurant’s name, the street number 43, and the words “Est 1968”.
The restaurant already has a page in our Horsham business directory, with the address and directions.
We asked the organisers for a few words from whoever runs the restaurant about what the award means to them. They passed us a contact at the restaurant rather than a quote. If the New Curry Centre would like to add one, we will put it in this piece and it will appear here the same day.
