The Carfax Mall is open again, as far as Next and TG Jones. The Post Office inside is listed open 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday. No date for the rest.
Part of Swan Walk is trading again. The centre has confirmed that the Carfax Mall is open, “from our Carfax entrance down to the Next and TG Jones area”, the first stretch of the shopping centre to reopen since it closed on 13 July. It is a partial reopening, not the end of the closure. The safety netting that made it possible is going in stage by stage, and the centre says it will come back in phases as each stage is finished.
What is open now
The reopened section runs from the Carfax entrance as far as Next and TG Jones.
That matters most for one thing: the Post Office, which sits inside TG Jones at 14-15 Swan Walk, RH12 1HQ. Post Office Ltd’s own branch finder lists it as open 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sunday, with no temporary closure notice against it. (Post Office branch finder)
TG Jones lists the same weekday and Saturday hours for the shop itself, plus 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday, and names a Post Office and a National Lottery counter among the store’s facilities. The store number is 01403 283459. (TGJones, Swan Walk, Horsham)

The centre’s own store list has not caught up
Read further down the same Swan Walk page and it still says something different. Under “Stores currently open” it lists only two, both on the phone-only arrangements set up during the full closure:
- Superdrug: call the pharmacy on 01403 253567 about prescriptions ready for collection.
- Select Travel: call 01403 262727 or email sales@select-travel.co.uk for holiday bookings.
That list predates the reopening and has not been revised. The centre says updated store guides will follow, so treat the mall announcement as the current position and the store list as the old one. If you are making a trip for one particular shop, phone it first.
What happens after this phase
Swan Walk has not put a date on the rest of the centre. Its statement says only that it will “share details on subsequent phases and timings as soon as possible”, and points people at its website and social channels.
One date is worth holding on to, because it is the one that will mean the closure is genuinely over: the centre is planning a reopening event for the first weekend of full centre opening. Until that is announced, expect more of Swan Walk to come back in pieces.
The sequence that got here is short. The centre closed on 13 July on safety grounds. On 13 August it said “an external projectile was responsible for the issue with our glazing panels” and confirmed netting had been ordered, with a target delivery date of 21 August. Your Horsham BID’s update of 27 August recorded that the netting had been delivered and that installation had begun that week, with the first phase anticipated the following week. That is the phase that has now opened.
What it means for you
If you have been walking to a sub post office elsewhere in town since July, you can stop. The Swan Walk branch is listed as open on its normal Monday to Saturday hours, and it is reachable from the Carfax rather than through the car park.
Do not assume the whole centre is back. The reopened stretch ends at Next and TG Jones. Anything beyond that point is still behind the works, and the centre has given no date for it.
The Swan Walk car park is unaffected and is run by Horsham District Council, not by the centre. Car park queries go to the council on 01403 230 721.
