Administrators were appointed to Joanna's Boutique Tearoom on 24 August, and to its Cranleigh company the same day. All three tearooms are still taking bookings.
The company behind Joanna’s Boutique Tearoom on Storrington High Street, in the south of the Horsham district about ten miles from Horsham itself, went into administration on 24 August. So did the separate company that runs its Cranleigh branch. Both appointments were published in The London Gazette on 28 August.
All three of the group’s tearooms, at Storrington, Chichester and Cranleigh, were still advertising their normal opening hours and taking online reservations when we checked on 30 August.
What the record says
Two notices were published, under a single High Court case number, CR-2026-006559.
- Joanna’s Boutique Tearoom Ltd, company number 09812938, incorporated in October 2015. Registered office and principal trading address: Riverside House, 34 High Street, Storrington, RH20 4DU. Nature of business given as licensed restaurants (The London Gazette, notice 5200597).
- Joanna’s Boutique Tearoom (Cranleigh) Limited, company number 15473151, incorporated in February 2024. Same registered office in Storrington, but its principal trading address is Unit 1, 102 to 105 High Street, Cranleigh, Surrey (The London Gazette, notice 5200592).
The administrators for both are Sean Bucknall and Marc Norman of Quantuma Advisory Limited, 3rd Floor, 37 Frederick Place, Brighton. Both companies’ registered offices are in the process of being changed to that Brighton address. Enquiries go to Joel Daly at Quantuma on 01273 322413.
A third company in the group, Joanna’s Boutique Tearoom (Chichester) Limited, number 14541446, is not named in either notice. Companies House still shows it as active, with no insolvency filings (Companies House).
Administration is not closure
An administrator’s job is to try to rescue the company as a going concern, or failing that to get a better result for creditors than winding it up would. Businesses routinely keep trading during administration, and are often sold on. Nothing in either Gazette notice says any tearoom is closing.
The Companies House registers for both companies still read “Active” on 30 August. That is normal: The Gazette publishes an appointment days before the paperwork lands on the company record.
The Storrington company was nearly struck off in the spring
The filing history for the Storrington company shows a separate near miss this spring.
- 28 April 2026: first Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off, the process that removes a company from the register when its filings are overdue.
- 14 May 2026: strike-off action suspended.
- 26 May 2026: micro company accounts filed, made up to 30 November 2024.
- 27 May 2026: strike-off action discontinued.
Its next set of accounts, for the year to 29 November 2025, was due on 29 August and is now overdue, so the most recent published picture of the company’s finances is the one filed in May for a year that ended in November 2024 (Companies House filing history).
What it means for you
If you have a booking, a voucher or a gift card, contact the tearoom directly first. Its Storrington number is 01903 742226. If you cannot get an answer, the administrators’ contact details above are the published route.
Gift vouchers are the practical risk in any hospitality administration. A voucher makes you an unsecured creditor of the company, not a customer with a guaranteed right to redeem, and whether it is honoured is a decision for the administrators. That is worth knowing before you buy another one, not a reason to assume this one will not be honoured.
The Storrington branch’s published opening hours are 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4pm on Friday, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday (Joanna’s, Storrington).
