Leonardslee Lights, the after-dark trail through the woodland gardens at Lower Beeding, runs on selected evenings from Friday 27 November to Wednesday 30 December 2026. Tickets start at £18.50 for adults and £13.50 for children, entry slots run from 4.15pm to 8.15pm, and a shuttle bus from Horsham station and the Carfax is back. This is the district’s biggest winter attraction, and the organisers expect it to sell out.

What it is

Leonardslee describes the 2026 production, A Midwinter Light’s Dream: A Garden Awakening, as an outdoor theatrical show: a route through the Grade I listed woodland garden with staged scenes of light, sound and live performers. For 2026 it promises new large-scale pieces and a longer route than last year (Leonardslee Lights).

The Leonardslee Village at the start is open before and after your slot, with a covered bar, firepits for toasting marshmallows, doughnuts, mulled wine and street food. Outside food and drink are not allowed.

Leonardslee says family tickets save up to 10%, and members get limited discounted tickets. One free carer ticket is available per deaf or disabled ticket holder, with evidence such as the front page of a PIP, DLA or Attendance Allowance letter.

You can change the date and time up to 10 days before your visit, but tickets are not refunded unless the event is cancelled. If bad weather forces a cancellation, the decision is usually made by midday on the day (Leonardslee Lights).

Getting there from Horsham

Leonardslee is on Brighton Road, Lower Beeding, RH13 6PP (Leonardslee). The shuttle bus runs from Horsham station or Horsham Carfax to the event and back, free when you book a Lights + Shuttle Bus ticket, which Leonardslee prices from £18.50 an adult. Drivers should allow at least 15 minutes to park and walk to the main entrance before their slot.

Access, dogs and weather

  • Dogs are welcome on short leads.
  • The route is on gravel and tarmac paths with one steep slope down into the valley and a gravel slope back up, not suitable for wheelchairs. Most all-terrain mobility scooters manage it, and Leonardslee suggests visiting in daylight first to check. Its own scooters and wheelchairs are not available for hire on Lights nights.
  • The trail goes ahead in rain, wind and frost, so dress for the weather.

The gardens by day this winter

The gardens stay open every day except Christmas Day. From 26 October 2026 to 27 March 2027 the hours are 9am to 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm, and on Lights nights last daytime entry is 2.30pm (Leonardslee). Day tickets start at £15.50 for adults and £8.50 for children aged 2 to 16, and include the Dolls’ House Museum and the free-roaming wallabies (day tickets).

Before Christmas the events calendar also carries Christmas wreath workshops from 26 November to 6 December and a children’s Christmas wreath workshop on Saturday 19 December (Leonardslee events).
